Murray Bridge SA

Thursday 30th April 2015. 9.30 pm.

After leaving Warrnambool we eventually made  camp Dartmoor, I got talking to one of the 5 other units camped there and found out that they came from Burrell Creek, not far from Taree.
When his wife came out of the van it turned out that she had worked with Beverley at the base hospital finance department at home.  Small world eh!
On through Digby, Merino, to Casterton, the birthplace of the Australian Kelpie dog.  Had lunch there while the washing and drying was in progress.
Next town for a look around was Penola, in SA, where Sister Mary McKillip started her fame.  Also Fr. Joseph Tennyson Woods worked with her to establish
the learning center for the children.  The convent building in Taree was probably named after him.
Last night we camped over the road from the cemetery at Naracoorte and woke up to 5 degrees!
The day was fine and sunny and we soon became very hot and had to shed a couple of skins!
First job of the day was to wash the MH, get some air in the tyres then have a look around town before going the near the swimming lake for a coffee in fill up the water tank.
A bit later on we arrived at Keith, and phoned Keith in Bunbury WA.  Had some nice pumpkin soup with a crusty bread roll with sesame seeds for lunch.
Tonight we are at the Avoca Dell CVP at Murray Bridge where Bev has caught up with the washing and ironing.

Tomorrow we head for Nuriootpa & Burra and later maybe camp at the old railway station at Terowie.
Looking for a lost cousin at Keith SA.  That's a lot of bull!

WARRNAMBOOL Vic

Monday 27th April 2015.  9.00 pm.

From Wagga Wagga we headed south, down the road a bit we decided that we should go straight down through Henty to Culcain.Well, Karen, (our navigator) was extremely determined that we should "do a U turn!, we were also determined to continue on.  A number of K's later we learned why she wanted to turn us back.  There was unsealed road ahead.  We caaried on as it was too far to go back, and had lunch at Culcain. (Lesson learned! Do not argue with she who must be obeyed.)
Later we arrived at Corowa and the sister chocolate factory of the one at Junee.
Crossed into Victoria here and proced to a camp site on the Ovens River.
Morning tea next day was at Shepparton, with lunch at Bendigo.  That night we camped on Mt.Franklin, just out of Daylesford.  Next morning we went to Hepburn Springs for 1 & 1/2 hour soak in the hot pool. Then to Daylesford to do some washing.  After that we traveled to Creswick where Bev went on a tour of the woolen mill where they produce a lot of Alpaca products. Later we camped at Slaty Creek camp in the forest.  Very quiet there.  Friday morning saw us arrive at Ballarat for morning tea and a look at the Botanical gardens to fill in time before going to Sebastapol to stay a couple of nights with my sister and brother-in-law.
We met up with there 2 daughters, Sandy & Carolyn, there and we all went for dinner at the bowling club.
Yesterday morning we drove about 2 & 1/2 hours to Warrnambool where Pearl & Kevin's other daughter, Dianne & husband & children Jack & Lauren.
It was great to catch up with everyone down this way and tomorrow we head off again westward.
Sorry for the lengthy post.  I will try and keep it up to date more regularly.

Monday 20/04/2015

Monday 20th April 2015. 7.30 pm

Saturday we drove from home to Cassillis to camp at the Bowling club camp site.  Unfortunately there was some sort of gymkhana or camp draft happening there with dozens of horses and horse floats etc. We traveled a further 5 km to a big rest area where we had also camped at before.  Not so noisy this time. Had some rain most of the night, but only light for most of the morning.  Refuelled at Dubbo at the same price as Taree for diesel @ 131.9 less 4 cents.

Had lunch at Parks and felt the cold wind.  Traveled on to Barmedman, about 38km north west of Temora to camp at the towns thermal pool complex, only to find the pool empty.  Have good phone signal so decided to stay and go on to Temora tomorrow to have a look at the aircraft museum.  This is a large operation funded by David Lowey, son of sir Frank.  They have a number of aircraft there from the second tigermoth in Australia through to the war years etc.  All the aircraft are still in flying condition and take part in displays throughout the year. Visit http://www.aviationmuseum.com.au
I have mucked this up a bit, but I am still learning!
Today, Monday when we got out of bed at Barmedman the temperature was just 10 degrees.  On arrival at
Temora at 9.30 am, it was still 10 degrees.
Yesterday at Tomingley, not far from Peak Hill we saw a rather new large open cut gold mine.  They are sure moving some soil there. After leaving Temora we traveled to Junee, where we visited the licorice and chocolate factory.  Only sampled 2 pieces of licorice as we should not have too much sugar.  Noticed E10 ULP at Woolworths fuel outlet for $1.199 / ltr.  Diesel $1.319.
Tonight we are camped at the WaggaWagga  showground  so that we can recharge the lap top, 2 tablets, camera and phones.  Somhow for reasons unknown to me, the computers went flat and caused some problems last night.

Friday 10th April 1.42 pm

We are still on track to get away on 18th April, although it did not look that way this morning.
While loading some things into the van, Bev discovered that the back right hand side sliding window had shattered.
O’Brien Glass has saved the day and will have a new window here on Wednesday or Thursday.  Only $300 fitted.

I had only just had a tinted strip put across the top of the windscreen, this this happened.  The strip only cost $50.

That's it for now.

Introduction

Hello there.
We are currently preparing to set off on our 4th big lap of Australia, which will commence about 18th April.  Firstly, I have to try and figure out how this blog stuff works.
If all goes well I will be posting information about our travel as often as possible.
Until we get started I will leave it at that.
